MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Ukraine have prepared an intergovernmental agreement on oil transit from Venezuela, Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Anatoly Filonov told a press conference on 28 April.

“As far as logistics and supplies of Venezuelan oil via Ukraine are concerned, all the documents and even an intergovernmental agreement on oil transportation have been prepared. Several logistics schemes for delivering the oil are available,” said Anatoly Filonov.

The official also said that other ways to deliver oil to the oil refinery Naftan are under consideration. “At present no detailed negotiations are in progress although it is interesting for us. So far only the scheme for deliveries from Ukraine is worked out. As far as the plans to supply 4 million tonnes of Venezuelan oil to Belarus within a year are concerned, the figure was determined by the memorandum the two sides have signed”. The Deputy Economy Minister also said that the volume will be used for manufacturing oil products and exporting them to Ukraine. “There is the demand and interest of the Ukrainian side,” said Anatoly Filonov. He reminded that a branch of Belarusian Oil Company had been set up in Kyiv to deal with oil supplies and the export of petroleum products to Ukraine.

The official also said that samples of the first batch of Belarusian oil in Ukraine were being taken. Later on it will be unloaded into tanks and shipped by rail. Speaking about the term of delivering the second batch of Venezuelan oil to Ukraine, Anatoly Filonov said that it would be most likely decided in May after the work that had been done is analyzed.
