Inmarsat is dropping the cost of its voice-calling services by 50 percent through the end of June.
The
price break is available to yachts using Inmarsat FleetBroadband and
Fleet One ChatCard voice services, and to wholesalers offering
FleetBroadband voice calls under the legacy Crew Calling SQT brand.
“We
recognize the unprecedented situation facing people at sea, as the
global maritime industry responds to the challenges of Covid-19,” Ronald
Spithout, president of Inmarsat Maritime, stated in a press release.
“It has become clear that, above all other forms of contact, being able
to talk to family, friends and colleagues is critical for the health and
well-being of crew during these difficult times.”
According to the press release, the ChatCard service handles about 600,000 minutes of use every month from people at sea.

Yes, and they vary through the wholesale channels. Inmarsat’s partners
negotiate call termination costs separately with local networks.
